Something a little different today. The first image is actually 12 images merged together through focus stacking. It's my first try and I'm doing this manually so it's a bit rough. The other is just an icy bit of road at Hartman Creek State Park. #photography #focusstacking #icyroads

A vibrant yellow rose photographed against a deep black background, its layered petals fully open and catching the light. The flower shows rich golden-orange tones in its depths, with delicate texture and subtle imperfections visible on the petals. It's slightly past its best - which gives it much more character. (possibly a picture that says as much about the photographer as subject.)

Right quarter profile view of a small, pinned robber fly (Asilidae) on a white background. The body is black with thick pale yellow setae on the face, thorax, and forming apical bands on the abdominal segments. The legs are very bristly and are mostly orange. The large eyes are dark with a faint purplish tinge.
Perfect. Predaceous. Puppy.
Bycatch* collected this summer in Arizona.
(*bycatch because it was caught during Bee Course and bees were the primary target, I guess)

2025-335 Savings Bond - My mom found a savings bond in some paperwork. It stopped earning interest after 30 years. Using the serial number on treasurydirect.gov, I found that it was purchased for $18.75 and earned $120.65 in interest. Neat!
