Chunks of ice in a very cold Hudson River. The river is salty at this point, so it must be very cold for several days to from ice floes. As it so happens, it's only about 14 F in NYC as I post this. The George Washington Bridge can be dimly seen in the upper left corner.
The icy Hudson River, the Palisades, and New Jersey. You can't tell from this photo, but densely populated suburbs sit atop the Palisades. The Hudson is still salty at this point, so it must be very cold for several days in a row for large ice floes to form.
