This photograph shows a massive spider web filling the frame. The center of the web is in the lower right area of the composition showing that only a portion of the web is captured in the image. The web is backlit And catches the light dramatically as darkness falls. A large or beaver spider rests at the center of the web waiting for its prey. I'm not terribly afraid of spiders, but it was startling to walk out my back door and almost walk into this web. That would have been a nightmare due to the cringy feeling of spider webs on your face and also the undoing of the hard work of the spider. The real nightmare is for the mosquitoes.

The sky begins to lighten and there is an orange haze around the purple shadows of Mont Ventoux that rises high above the Provence countryside, still draped in night shadows. The silhouette of a tree is seen on the left and in the foreground, overhead electric cables snake above ground between iron towers. Ventoux, at 1,910m (6,270ft), is the highest mountain in the region and has been nicknamed the "Beast of Provence", and "The Bald Mountain". It gained fame through its inclusion in the Tour de France cycle race. I took this photo from a camp site near Carpentras.
