A sign in Garston, proclaiming it "New Zealand's most inland village". Two smaller direction signs below show the distance to Milford Sound (108km) and Dunedin (146 km).
The lake at Te Anau. The photo shows a large body of water with a boat in the middle, and a cloud covered mountain in the distance. The shore is in the foreground.
A sign at Lake Te Anau. It's a Deed of Recognition, stating that "Lake Te Ana-au (Te Anau)" to be "A tonga (treasure) of Ngai Tahu". It includes a description of the lake and an acknowledgement from The Crown that the lake holds for Ngai Tahu Whanui.
A bunch of Purple Foxglove flowers. Despite the name, the flowers are pinkish-red. They are bell shaped and hanging downwards along a plant stem. The inside of the flower has dark red patches.
From Queenstown, we made our way to Te Anau via Garston, on 26 Dec 2025. Took a walk along the lakeside, and spotted some Purple Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), an introduced plant.

Dishes of Indian food including Nan and curries
Amazing to find a newly opened cracking Indian restaurant disguised as the Coffee Vault in #Garston during the day. Freshest home-cooked Indian food in #Liverpool. Paneer Kadai, dal, mushroom curry and garlic nan were superb.

We supported this installation as part of our commitment to sustainability, particularly 'joining up green travel'.

Culvert of the Ancient Garston River unearthed
A culvert, thought to have been the course of an original ancient river of Liverpool, the 'old Garston Brook'. Discovered during construction of the new Garston Way bypass (A561), on Church Road, #Garston in the 1980βs.

My #MemoriesShared of early life in #Garston and my images of the #GarstonHotel in its last days...
I was on a stroll in #Garston in South #Liverpool recently and came across this seemingly random mural. Sadly, the surrounding area was quite rough and the mural itself wasn't in good nick either. Does anyone know more about it?
