He barely spoke a word of English. He understood that his universal language (music) could help him navigate the enigma of arrival. He played the kokyū (胡弓), an instrument native to his culture with a deep history. But he also played the ‘classics’ of the West, with the result that whether it was a ‘standard’ of Kabuki theater or ‘We are the Champions’, the impact upon listeners was that the music was transformed into something utterly unique, drawing the passers-by in & having them stop as they surrendered with amazement to an expression beyond language that was utterly unique.

so many times a photograph is based on luck and timing—what I 'saw' was the two not only ignoring the paintings but also each other—timing—and the luck of the two contrasting walls to highlight the differences and distance in the image.
