We were lucky to see a couple of leopard cubs during our time in South Africa. This one was enjoying the golden hour rays with her mum nearby keeping a close eye on her. #leopard #leopardcub #wildlife #africa
We spotted a leopard cub up on a rocky outcrop. We'd seen it on another day. Word came over the radio about a leopard in the area. We headed over there and saw the mama leopard (left in this photo) hunting or patrolling. Everyone with half a brain knew that this had to be the mother of the cub. Our driver left the scene and drove back to the outcrop. He took us right to the bottom of the hill. Word came that mama was on her way back. Then, there she was, weaving her way through a maze of jeeps and vans (41!), not even glancing at the vehicles. She made her way right behind our van (!) and made a soft contact call. The cub popped up. Momma made her way up and the family was reunited. They nuzzled and licked each other, then it was time for suckling. All was well in leopard world.
