Thinking about the last #HistFest #MedievalFest session on bodies, health, and healing, as I serve up a Caesar salad so pungent with garlic I know I'll still be able to taste it in the morning, and feeling (slightly superstitiously) that perhaps it will help to ward off any of the bugs going around.

What a fantastic day of talks lined up by @histfest.bsky.social for their #MedievalFest. I was so impressed with how well produced and organised the event was, especially as someone attending online. If you're looking for history events and courses you can participate in from home, check them out!

Thank you to everyone involved in @histfest.bsky.social’s #MedievalFest for another incredible day of talks.

Hah! Great advice from Charlotte Roberts: be buried not cremated, and make sure you never brush your teeth, the more plaque the better for future bioarchaeologists to analyse all your diseases 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 #MedievalFest #HistFest

What a brilliant conversation hosted by @drjaninaramirez.bsky.social at #HistFest #MedievalFest. It makes me want to go and read some poetry. I was surprised, but perhaps I shouldn't have been, that they managed to turn to such depth and relevance at the end, on the power of poetry in times of war.

I read Beowulf as a young teen and wasn’t a fan… After today’s #MedievalFest talk on Medieval Literature, I’ve seen it in a new light. I think it’s safe to say it deserves a reread. Adding it to my TBR along with Du Fu!

The absolute passion and excitement radiating out of everyone on this Medieval literature panel is infectious. I have never really given Beowulf a second thought & now feel desperate to experience it. Am also captivated by Janina's boots, sorry 😍 #MedievalFest

@nathenamin.bsky.social is talking about Welsh princes who knew they couldn't rise the ranks if they had disabilities, bits missing and so on, so just went around gouging their brothers' eyes out to cut them out of the lineage. Not v. nice is it. #medievalfest #histfest

OooOoh! Really excellent seasonally appropriate pantomime audience reactions at #HistFest #MedievalFest as all of the misogynistic ways people (read: men) have the viewed the works of historical historian Princess Anna Komnene are discussed in the room.

The view from my window, a study in grey and gold. The sun glows in a windy sky of every shade of silver and grey. A rough loch reflects the light. All else looks dark.

Through a window which reflects some shadows, the sky is 2/3rds blue with a streak of white across it - is it natural or an old chem trail. Grass with a scattering of grey rocks and a mass of New Zealand flax. Beyond, rough grass fields.

A stormy day but we’re only on the edge, really. The cats are snuggling & I’m attending #MedievalFest in my pyjamas. #uist
