There are still some examples. #BHEKI in November 2024 was predicted to top at 80 kn. In the end the storm reached 110 kn. #MANYI, also in November 2024, was predicted to top at 110 kn. With 140 kn at peak it would become one of the strongest storms globally that season.

My data from Super Typhoon #MANYI. This location went through eye. Min 951.8 mb is higher than expected—however, what matters is *gradient*, & MANY-YI had one of steepest I've measured: 7.6 mb/n mi in back eyewall. That rivals other great cyclones I've measured, & it explains why it was so violent.

With #ManYi (#25W / #PepitoPH) headed toward its final demise, the Western Pacific looks like it will get a nice long break from tropical cyclone activity as dry air dominates the basin. I'm sure the #Philippines are breathing a sigh of relief after four straight #typhoon landfalls.

2.5-minute rapid scan JMA #Himawari9 Visible and Infrared images showed Super Typhoon #ManYi (#PepitoPH) as it made landfall on the Philippines island of Luzon. A notable convective burst developed shortly after the eye became cloud-filled in as it moved inland.

- Avoid walking or driving through flooded areas; 15 cm of fast-moving water can knock you off your feet, 30 cm can make you lose control of your car
