We used #isotope incubations, #nanoSIMS, fluorescence microscopy and 'omics to tackle how urea is used for nitrification, and by which organisms, in the coastal Gulf of Mexico, the open ocean Angola gyre, and the Black sea.

New paper out! In the @environmicrobio.bsky.social lab, we measured deuterium incorporation in 543 single cells using Raman and NanoSIMS. This allowed us to directly compare each technique and resolve any possible methodological artifacts
