To get this shot, with @beatricemorgana.bsky.social simply being AMAZING in what we might consider to be her natural domain, I sorta hooked my feet under a rock outcropping and assumed the position one might take were one doing crunches at the gym. I gotta tell you...I feel it today.
A bit of debauchery here and there (and everywhere) over the course of 40 years has taken a toll on my physical shell. A broken neck, blown Achilles tendons, a knee lost to a tackle at a beach party in Mexico and a number of other minor injuries that have all come back to haunt me. I swear to Lard that I was 38 until about a year ago. A conversation with my adopted Mom yesterday shed some light on this....in her late-70's she expressed surprise that she wasn't 35 anymore so apparently this happens to everyone! I do recognize that I'm JUST FINE given the wear and tear I've put on myself. Plenty of people have real problems that are worse than my minor annoyances but the wildly unpredictable rigors of scaling waterfalls, traipsing around canyons and generally chasing the muse where it leads are a wonderful impetus towards some kind of activity. The enthusiasm for life itself is bound up in this pursuit. Damn.
I am having a good time. All the time. Today I stood in an empty field, soon to be filled with nearly 2000 people, and listened to some of my favorite music as I evaluated speaker positions and nudged my little Franken-PA towards fruition. Life is fucking good. Let's GO!
Have you ever looked at a shot and thought, "goddamn, how did they DO that?" Well, if it's not a drone it's probably a photographer doing something ridiculous. More in the alt-text.
