Daytime view on a river pier in a large city facing one of the most famous bridges in the world; completed in eighteen-eighty-three, the Brooklyn Bridge connects two boroughs of the city and was once the longest suspension bridge in the world; it is a popular tourist attraction, but even for those who live in the City it never ceases to be a beautiful and inspiring piece of history; the stone columns supporting the bridge cast a reflection on the blue-green waters of the river, which technically is not really a river but a saltwater tidal estuary that connects to the City's primary harbor; far in the distance is a wide range of the City's skyline, along with other bridges; we can use the acronym "B.M.W." to remember these first three bridges - Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, and Williamsburg Bridge; to the left of the scene, the broad, periwinkle overpass of the FDR expressway snakes its way along the river's edge; behind the bridge in the foreground, there is a chrome-colored skyscraper building that, to some, seems to look out of place and resembles a giant cheese grater; the sky is pretty much overcast at this point.
