According to the IUCN Red List the Northern Pintail (Anas acuta) is listed as Vulnerable according to the latest assessment with a decreasing population trend. This species is native to Europe, parts of Eastern Asia and Northern Africa. It is migratory. Their habitat is lakes and wetlands, as well as intertidal and marine areas. They consume invertebrates and plants.

A pair of Pintail Ducks, facing to the left, stand in water by the edge of a mud scrape where brown and green reeds are growing. The female stands to the fore - she has a mottled brown body and wings, a brown head, dakl coloued bill, and black eye. Behind her the head, upper body, and tail of the male can be seen. He had a dark brown head with a white stripe at the back of the head running down to his white throat. He has a grey/brown body with long, dark, pointed tail feathers.
