You silence her cries As blood pools between her thighs. Tears well in her eyes As you feed her more lies. Drop her at a clinic two towns away Afraid of what the congregation would say. There is no limit to what you would pay To keep your secrets from the light of day. You block education and affordable care, Hoarding the resources you were meant to share. You left your church pews and forgot to care, Walked out of the building and left your values right there. While you were collecting CEOs and politicians, We were tending your broken without conditions. We stepped up to be a people that listens Regardless of status, power, or positions. ICE How many pale bodies need to hit the floor before we start caring about the black and brown ones? Their deaths are just as tragic, and yet the crowds that chant won’t say their names There has been a glacier on their necks for centuries, but the only cries I hear are for the rime that are slaughtering the suburban whites It’s time to take a stand, to put our bodies between the iceberg, and say enough is enough It’s time to lose our privilege, topple the tyranny, and melt away the fucking ice.

With pepper and spice?
So by fear will you flee,
Or will you stand for democracy,
While your neighbors and friends,

Poem text typed over a background image of moon in the sky. “wolves” I stare at the wolves gathering outside my window. They circle the property. Sniff my patio furniture. Piss on the walls. Murder my neighbors. Daring me out of the house. They remind me how fragile, this shell of domesticity and drywall. One blow from caving in. But they know nothing of the feral rage this domesticated dog cut his teeth on. I save up my screams. Distill them into fuel. Mana for the days ahead.

The latest gestapo execution in broad daylight has brought a lot of righteous rage to the surface. So I’m howling out in the ways I know how, in grief… in defiance…
This one goes out to all the riot dogs out there. Show your teeth. Bite back.
