#SundayShed #GBRailfreight 66303 heading a late running 4L13 Hams Hall to Felixstowe North #GBRF intermodal past Wing, in #Rutland, yesterday afternoon. Last time i saw this one it was with GB but still in a plain blue livery (presume DRS?). #ShedWatch 7/3/26
Cloudy skies meant the #SaturdaySandTrain shot at Wing was possible this weekend. Hired-in #GBRF tug 60095 'Whernside' made an impressive sight & sound hauling #DCRail 6M89 Middleton Towers to Chaddesden Sidings through the #Rutland countryside at lunchtime yesterday. 7/3/26

There are any number of methods named after places, and it can be fun to ring the method at the tower it shares a name with. The band at Exton did just that, with a quarter peal of Exton Delight Minor.

We're looking up a slope at Hambleton church, illuminated by the slanting, golden rays of a winter setting sun. The East end is facing us, with the tower at the far end of the church. It is not standing up far above the nave and has a squat little tower with lights that look like ears. The war memorial is in front of us, with a wreath showing. The trees surrounding the church are all bare and the sky is a clear blue.
Tower of the Day
Hambleton has a ring of 5 bells, which are rung from the ground floor. The heaviest weighs 536 kg. Two bells were cast in 1610, the rest in 1861 and 1887. They practice on Tuesday night, alternating with Wing and ring on alternate Sundays

A band rang a quarter peal at Edith Weston. It was of Silver Wedding Doubles and they rang it to celebrate the Silver wedding of Jean and Andrew Tinsley. Congratulations to both of them.

A map of the 11km route I walked yesterday in #Rutland and the #WellandValley There was a lot more roads walked than I, but due to the flooding I couldn't get to Turtle Bridge and walk up to Harringworth from there #WalkingRutland
Walking down the lane I thought I saw a small deer. It wasn't, it was a brown hare, although it saw me before I saw it. I didn't realise they were so big, this was the second one I spotted on my walk #Rutland #Hares
On the footpath back to Morcott, the old railway bridge under the abandoned railway line and footbridge across a stream, the path is part of the Rutland Round. The sign reads "welcome" "public footpath E289" #Rutland
Just down the hill is the remains of Seaton Station now a car bresker yard with it's decaying footbridge and old signal box #Rutland
On the north side in Rutland is Seaton with it's 12th century church and the old school house #Rutland
Pictures of Harringworth in the Welland valley, the village sit in Northamptonshire on the south side of the valley #Rutland
There was plenty of flooding on the river Welland at Harringworth yesterday under the Welland viaduct. So much in fact I couldn't get to Turtle Bridge downstream #Rutland
A couple of pictures from the walk back to Morcott and that tunnel. That wasn't easy to find, the track bed was overgrown so it was a bit of a scramble to get to it #Morcott #Rutland
Where I started and got to get back to, the green lane I walked to get down here and my first view of the viaduct #Rutland #WellandViaduct
Will you look at the size of that! 😳
#Harringworth viaduct, the biggest brick built viaduct in Britain. Impressive bit of engineering, wow! #Rutland
