Scan of a black and white photo, square format, taken in the late 1960s in early evening in the countryside. The view is mostly of a sloping field of grass bordered by trees a few hundred metres away. Against the pale, dim, overcast sky the trees appear in silhouette form with tall, thin trunks and medium density foliage towards the top. A solitary tree stands out from the general borders of trees that converge in the distant left, taller and leafier than everything else. In the foreground there's a man with dark shoes and trousers, wearing a lighter coloured, thick, knitted blanket as a shawl or poncho. He's very slightly crouched down facing the camera with a manic grin on his face and in his right hand he holds a long stick, like a cane at school. Over his head there is a fishing catch net, worn like beekeepers' protection, but the overall imagery is supposed to be that of some monstrous beast lurking in the countryside as darkness approaches.
My dad larking about in the late 1960s for #ThrowBackThursday this week. As the netting gives away, this would have been on a fishing evening with a couple of his brothers. Entertainment was different back then.
