Solution Focused & Self Compassion
| I'm overly critical and not sure what to do about it
I paused for a moment
with the answer, or maybe just an answer
that criticism towards others begins in the self
so the solution with that established is
self compassion,
A self compassion letter follows suit:
I see that you are critical towards others
and I also see this causes distress for you
this shows that no, you're not a bad person,
(if a person can be bad, a different discussion)
but rather it's a normal human experience to
seek to compare, especially in this society
it's heavy to hold that sort of feeling;
where is it held, in your stomach?
In your chest? Take in a deep
breath through your nose
and out through your mouth
to activate the parasympathetic
nervous system, decrease your cortisol
and adrenaline, and assure your amygdala
that you are not in danger, no need to flee
to remember life is not an emergency
remember that shame is blame
and there's no need to blame
yourself or anyone else, rather
what is something you can do now
to move toward your goals personally?
