Many of them are just pretending, so they can fit in and be accepted. It's a tragedy, not because there's anything wrong with being normal, but because so many people are hurting themselves so they fit the expectations of others.” Frame 3: “What makes it worse is that by pretending to be normal, they're pressuring others to be normal as well,” Zephyr continues. “So you get this endless cycle of people pretending to be normal so they can fit in with people pretending to be normal.” Frame 4: “Of course,” Zephyr says, “some of them need to pretend to be normal to feel safe. And some people live in situations where being true to themselves would put them in genuine danger.
