🥛 🇺🇸 World’s first cell-culutred whole cow milk to debut in US
In 2026, Boston-based startup Brown Foods will launch a market pilot for UnReal Milk, the world’s first cell-cultured whole cow’s milk, created without cows.
UnReal Milk is molecularly identical to traditional dairy, but fully cell-cultured, created using cultivated milk-producing cells that naturally generate proteins, fats and carbohydrates. It can be processed into butter, cheese and ice cream, offering the same products people already love, but with a fraction of the environmental impacts and none of the cruelty. This production method slashes carbon emissions by 82%, water use by 90% and land use by 95% compared to animal farming.
Despite pushback from animal agribusiness and certain political forces, the shift towards plant-based and cell-cultured alternatives continues to gain momentum in the US and beyond.
Just received Ed Winters’ newsletter with again amazing news.
Can you imagine eating all of your favourite dairy products without involving a cow? And saving the environment at the same time?
