SimCity 2000 on Windows 98 SE did support a whole lot of beautiful pixels. This resolution was definitely an upgrade over the old (S)VGA modes of the MS-DOS version! 😃

I finally migrated my virtual 486-DX2 66MHz from PCem to 86Box. It's joining the newly set-up Pentium MMX 233MHz. PC emulation is fun! 😃

I'm currently re-installing Windows 98 SE for the "maybe 20th time" tonight. I think I might have finally found a working configuration to get my 1995-2000 retro games collection running to get everything sorted properly. These files have been a total mess since 2011.

I actually managed to get my old version of "Age of Empires II" playing in the PCem emulator. Even the noCD-crack from 2000 is still working perfectly. Here it is running on "high" settings and 1024x768 resolution. The music and sounds are working fine, too!

OK, after almost a whole day of trial and error, I finally managed to run PCem v17 and Windows 98 SE without issues in the windows device manager. It's still not perfect, but I am happy I got this far.

Well, this proved to be more difficult than I had first assumed, but I've finally found an original, untouched bootdisk for the German version of Windows 98 SE.
