In general, the words you use in your novel should be as few as are necessary for clarity of meaning. Better choices often require fewer words. Part of your editing is reviewing sentences that seem excessively wordy to see if you missed better words.

If you sprinkle 'religious associated words/phrases' in your description about your novel (ex: from heaven to hell) you may be sending a message that your book is religious.
Some readers enjoy religious associated novels, many do not. Be clear on your intent.
