Here's an older piece by our Ayrin! 🖤

While Yoro's deep in commission work, Ayrin's been reflecting — looking through her old drawings and reconnecting with where she started.

What's your take on this? Got that interesting character vibe, right? 👀✨

A long haired man holding a white paper smugly that has text in Japanese which reads 'It's my birthday'. Around the man, there are smaller images of him drawn with different expressions.

There are texts around the smaller images that read as follows - from top-left to bottom-right:

1 - "Eh? There's nothing?"
2 - "Delicious!"
3 - " UOOOOOOOOOOOO"
4 - "Um... Joy..."

A summary of the art I've drawn throughout the year of 2025. Highlighting some of my favorite pieces from each month. January features the drawing of Flint the Djinn and a sprite of the checkpoint Sol Spirit I made for my game. February features both my Legends ZA fan concepts for the starters. I also did some valentines themed drawings of my Sol Spirits for that month. March's featured drawing was the reference sheet I did for my OC Sara. April was a drawing of my OC Sole illuminating a room with light. May features a pair of my OCs as mermaids. June features the stary night drawing of a snowman and penguin from Mario Kart driving along the road. July features an assortment of drawings and spirits. Including three relatives of my OC Sara and the sprits for the Earth and Wind Sol Spirits that I've used in my platformer game. August features a drawing of a background I made for the bonus level of my DK fan game, a full body drawing of my OC Skip, and some game sprites for the fire and water Sol Spirits. September features a drawing I did of the pot chickens from the SNES Aladdin game with the addition of a variety of other drawings. Including a fakemon I made for a contest, and a few spirits of my main character using the Sol Spirits as power-ups in the game I'm working on. October features the massive Halloween drawing of a large assortments of my OCs dressed up on a dark and foggy night. Novemember features three characters from Golden Sun Dark Dawn along with a drawing of my OC Nayla. December features a drawing of some Pokemon in winter outfits hanging out in a photo of a snowy cliffside. There is also a drawing of my OC Sole dressed up and ready to give a present.

And here's my art summary for 2025. Here's hoping that I continue find time to create on the side as I continue to venture deeper down the rabbit hole of game design.

The Future Is Yours: A Reflection on Art, History, and Our Choices
The painting, "The Future Is Yours," offers a powerful social commentary on our current zeitgeist. The image of a skeleton, a classic symbol of mortality, pointing optimistically toward the future is jarring. The text, “The Future Is Yours too fuck up,” immediately subverts that hope, turning a familiar phrase into a cynical warning. This work is a profound philosophical painting, forcing us to confront the idea that optimism might be a dangerous delusion.
The skeleton embodies the lessons of history, guiding us but also warning us. The painting's dark humor suggests that this future is not a gift but a grim inheritance we are destined to squander. The contemporary art directly addresses a deep anxiety about our world's direction.
This is a stark analysis of our societal decline. The rising tide of fascism and the erosion of trust in leadership reveal our collective failure to learn from history. The skeleton’s hand points to a bright future, but the words remind us that humanity’s darkest impulses—greed, ego, and a short-sighted focus on personal gain—are always present, ready to trip us up.
The painting suggests we are at a critical threshold. Despite the warnings etched in our history, we are willfully ignoring them and marching blindly toward a repeat of past tragedies. This reflection on modern art is a painful look at the dangerous disconnect between what we know and how we choose to act.

Looking back at old work makes me cringe but also proud. Writers: do you ever reread old drafts, or is it too painful?"

Cornelis Norbertus Gijsbrechts painted „The Reverse of a Framed Painting“ (1670s). A witty trompe-l’œil that flips art inside out—what looks like the back of a canvas is itself the artwork.

Roman Signer’s Rotes Tuch turns a simple red cloth into a charged gesture—stillness and motion colliding in one suspended moment. It feels like his whole practice distilled: playful, precise, and oddly moving.

Most of my pieces start with a mistake. A smudge. A mark I didn’t mean to make. Then I chase it, until it becomes the center of the work. I don’t plan my compositions—I follow them.

FAce-lIft Reflection I made paintings. Tech advanced I let the algorithm chew on them. fAce-lIft™ is what happened when I asked AI to distort, not dictate — to echo, not replace. The result? Something almost beautiful, slightly haunted, and very much still mine. If that makes you uncomfortable... good. Come look anyway.

Art isn’t about access to the tools — it’s about why we use them.
This week we reflected on digital artists, automation, and why creativity still belongs to the human hand.
