Orange remaining beech leaves on many trees, on a very foggy morning. They are marcescent (where the old dead leaves cling on until the new buds come in the late spring).
How beautiful are the marcescent beech leaves that cling on in winter?! So glad there was fog this morning :)

I was out with the big camera again in September, having discovered an amazing woodland nearby (Hockeridge), which has redwoods! Had no idea they grew outside of California, but here they are. The mushrooms were beginning to appear, but not too many around yet.

Backlit yellow leaves on a beautiful sunny morning.
This is probably my favourite time of year - as autumn gives way to winter. Absolutely stunning morning up on a common a short drive away. So many beautiful trees everywhere!

An avenue of small redwoods (only 71 years old). There are some autumnal ferns at the base of the trees, a brown path covered with needles and leaves, and some fog in the distance.
I love this avenue or Wellingtonia (sequoiadendron giganteum or giant redwoods).
They were planted in 1952 by Mary Wellesley who'd bought the woodland to rescue it from neglect, and then gifted it to the forestry commission in 1986.

Light shafts fall through gaps in the trees, lighting up remaining leaves on the trees and the red fallen ones on the forest floor. There are a couple of dark trunks on the right, and lots of other trees around.
