Spider locomotion driven by UE5 Control Rig. A delta-time cycle drives the animation by offsetting each leg’s end position into the future (t + offset), projecting where the foot should land and moving legs sequentially for smooth procedural motion.

Spending my first day off learning some #UE5.7 #controlrig #Physics. I have been hearing the plan is to remove AnimBP at some point, so I am working on learning how to make physics and dynamics in Control Rig. Along with some procedural animations, I have mr rabbit for some testing.

More polish incoming, but I hit another milestone of it looking somewhat decent. Still need to clamp the leaning back, and probably add in some weight shifting where the pelvis/feet actually reposition to really sell the idea of balance.

Got the materials and rig set up in Unreal. It's a whole different way of thinking of things, and it doesn't help that the documentation for Unreal's control rig is esoteric at best, but it is satisfying to see it all coming together.

Gaits for Dinobird: Walking, Running, and Sprinting. This was refreshingly straight forward compared to RootYaw and Jumping, and it works pretty well with the other systems with no nasty surprises. A good week!

Break through. Spent large part of the week not having success getting Root Yaw Offset applied to the actual character without horrible contortions, but then it clicked yesterday. Quite a big difference with than without it!

Still have some edge cases to figure out. I am using the Sphere Trace on his Pelvis and a second Sphere trace for his lower tail since it's so far back with a mock extra bone. I need to adjust it for wall hits and maybe the animation on moving.

Does anyone familiar with control rig know if it’s possible to attach a single control (not the whole rig and not setting a location) to another actor (during gameplay)?
