What the world needs, is another VGA to SCART converter ;)
I based it on Tomi Engdahl's circuit, but added an MCU to enable the sync signal, when the horizontal sync is in range. Now I just have to convince the AMD GPU in my TV computer to output the correct signal...

Time for another project. I have close to zero spare time, so I really need another project ;)
This time it's a tube tester. I bought the minimum kit of just PCBs, the special transformers and a programmed PIC.

The audio part takes up little space. The power supply and control section takes up most of the space :)
The tubes will be connected with wires. PCB mount sockets for European 30's tubes are not readily available ;)

Been working on a very simple control panel for my latest project. It's just an MCU, a rotary encoder, an IR receiver, a pair of displays and a pushbutton. I would normally use a display driver of some kind. But with 42 I/O lines, why not drive the segments directly?

Started testing with the EF36 (I'm lazy - it fits in a relay socket). Tubes covered in black paint don't glow much ;)

Yet another amp project... I work on a lot of projects simultaneously, because I always run into a lack of parts, or something I have to look into. This is an SE tube power amp. The power transformer isn't fitted yet, as it weighs a ton...

The new operating points of the input stage, did improve matters - slightly...
4% THD at 1W output isn't exactly great. But compared to 0.14W at 1% THD it is an improvement. Distortion halved in round numbers. So it's not just the input stage that was causing the issues.

Turned out the linear pre-regulator needed more cooling than just the copper area on the board. So I soldered on a small heatsink.
