This oil painting is a scene from a family hike up to emerald lake in the Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park Colorado. Darkness was closing in on our October hike, so the light was phenomenal on the side of the mountain, but more so in person than than I could catch on camera. The hike has special meaning to me. I tried to push up the light value in the mountains by making the darks darker than reality. photo of the painting was taken in natural defused sunlight.
