A field sparrow facing the viewer has - similar to a reed warbler - clungto a steeply rising thorn apple branch stump—at the end of which two tiny leaves have sprouted—and looks with its head tilted toward the upper left corner of the picture. In the background, you can see a few more branches and the last green leaves of the shrub, which are covered with snow.
Worrying trend?🦉
During my vacation on the North Sea, I usually marvel at seagulls, waders...—all the wonderful birds that I otherwise never or rarely get to see. This year, my greatest joy was a group of #fieldsparrows, because I haven't seen any at my #localpatch since spring 2024(!).
