#FinnMcCool was a comic re-telling of the Irish #mythical character that didn't quite make it off the ground. Similar in feel to #slaine from the #2000AD. This is an early character study for concept purposes.

It is made of stainless steel and the work of Spanish artist Casto Solano, who named it 'The Protector of the Lough'. Finn McCool is a mythical giant who picked up a piece of earth and lobbed it at his enemy in Scotland. The hole left by the piece of earth became the enormous and beautiful Lough Neagh. The piece of earth became the Isle of Man. So he couldn't throw quite as far as he thought but a valiant effort nonetheless!

Photograph of the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland. Taken in a semi crouched position to catch the sunlight reflecting off the puddles left on the rocks after rain. In the distance is a relatively calm blue-grey sea and a blue sky with clouds overhead. The site is made of interlocking basalt columns of different heights from volcanic activity many millions of years ago. Although, I prefer the legend - the Irish giant Finn McCool built it as a route to cross the Irish Sea to fight his rival Scottish giant, Benandonner. The latter fled, destroying the pathway on its retreat, leaving only remnants which is what can be seen today.
