While globally the majority of abortions take place before 13 weeks, two-thirds of all major abortion-related complications occur after 13 weeks and are responsible for nearly half of all abortion-related deaths. Lack of available abortion care services, skilled providers, information and unnecessary legal and policy restrictions are just some of the factors contributing to the higher mortality rates associated with abortion in later gestations.
The webinar will feature insights from experts in the field on the clinical advances and key considerations for introducing and providing abortion care after 13 weeks; challenges abortion providers face and what they are doing to ensure the availability of quality abortion care after 13 weeks; and barriers clients face in accessing care.
There will be time at the end of the webinar for Q&A from audience members.
