A couple days ago, I realized it had been far too long since I'd knitted something for my dad-in-law, so I cast on a scarf, figuring I'd use up the yarn left over from the baby blanket I'd just finished.

A grey cowl laid flat on a concrete background with a small bit of the leftover yarn in the corner. The cowl is made from superbulky yarn and has twisted rib on the top and bottom and kind of a spiral pattern in the center. The hat pattern was Sidewinder by Aspen Leaf knits.
This cowl started life as a beanie, but I had gauge problems and ended up being huge, so I finished it off as a cowl instead of decreasing for the crown of a hat that would fit no one.
[Insert joke about people with big heads who could have worn the hat! 😂]
