There used to be so many white tailed kites along the east Bay shoreline, and truly one of my favorite birds. I have really been missing them.

These three were part of a group of 15 or so. They were fishing in a methodical coordinated fashion as they glided gracefully on this large pond. The way they moved reminded me of swans — a thought I’ve never had about Brown Pelicans. This photo was taken around high noon, so colors are largely washed out. You can just make out soft pastels of the sky and clouds reflected by the smooth pond surface.
