I recall seeing Frederic Edwin Church's "The Icebergs" painting being moved into a museum, and was amazed by the size and scale of it's frame, something we take for granted when viewing many of the Old Masters paintings.

Last year I painted a 18x24 inch landscape canvas copy of Alexandre Cabanel's 1847 masterpiece "The Fallen Angel". I've painted it in my own style, which is not as refined as the classically trained Cabanel. I also didn't want to include the angels. #masterworks #oldmasters
