The May Queen from the Ladies' Luncheon Room Ingram Street Tea Rooms, 1900 par Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh. One of Mackintosh’s trademarks is elongated female figures in flowing garments that are reminiscent of Japanese ukiyo-e prints (and his wife Margaret MacDonald Mackintosh also produced similar designs). Mackintosh Japanese-Celtic art noveau chairs with tall simple but elegant backs. The openings in the back rest feel like a mountain crest or sun or moon.
Charles and his wife Margaret Mackintosh (Scotland) describe their art style as "Celtic Japanese", Charles grew up at a port where ships from the Far East brought cool art over.
