Knipescar Common
View from Knipescar Common dowtowards Haweswater.
View south from Knipescar Common, with heavy showers in between the late winter sunshine.
Black & white shot of the road back up to Howgate Foot. Open fell side interspersed with gorse bushes.
Another Birkett ticked off this morning, Knipescar Common in the far east of the district. Heavy showers all around but somehow managed to stay dry.

I've fallen behind in my #OutsideEveryday posts but today I was in Palm Canyon on the Agua Calientes Band reservation. It is a unique landscape of blasted desert rock and unbelievable palm groves.
Hike out to White Hause in the Northern Fells this afternoon. Bright sunshine but a fair old wind blowing and boggy underfoot in places. This seldom visited Birkett is rather tricky to get to!

#OutsideEveryday Today I took a run on a section of the Fish Lake Trail out of Marshall, the section that dead ends. No other humans on the trail but trains on the active rail lines on either side. With a sci-fi podcast on the earbuds it was great. 3.25 miles.
A brown and white collie cross stands expectantly in shallow water on a pebbly beach. The sea is calm, the skies grey. Holy Isle rises up on the horizon.
The calm before (between) the storm(s). Doggo loving the beach.
It's traditional for weather to be wild on Arran in the run up to Christmas, but travel for islanders is looking even more dodgy because the MV Isle of Arran is off to dry dock for a leaky porthole! π¬

Two grinning rosy cheeked women in bright running gear posing for a selfie.
A view up Glen arosa, bathed in sunlight and shadow. The burn flowing in the foreground. Snow kissed summit of Cir Mhor at the head of the glen.
Doggo posing next to the rocky waterfall of the Garbh Allt where it joins the Rosa Burn.
It was flipping wild in Glen Rosa today. π₯Άπ€ͺπ€― Kate & I battered ourselves into a headwind, then wooshed back down the glen. Bonkers windy, ffffreezing cold. It was ace to have a running buddy & cheery chat, although most of the chatting happened with the tailwind π.

A brown and white dog stands in clear water in Lamlash Bay. Pebbles and seaweed on the sea floor are visible around him... On the horizon are the shapes of Holy Isle and King's Cross. The sky is cloudy with golden light shining through gaps in the clouds and reflected in the calm water.
Can really feel the presence of the darkness and the solstice now as if it is an actual physical thing. This is from our late morning walk today. #outsideeveryday

A dog trotting along a forest road lined with sitka spruce. On the horizon, the shape of Goatfell can be seen across Brodick Bay.
Attempt at a threshold run with my Nuis π this morning. We are both recovering from injury but the vet said "use it or lose it" and the physio said "if it doesn't hurt, do it," so we did.

A dog (brown and white collie cross with big kelpie ears) running towards the camera on a forest path.
Zoomies in the misty woods with Nuis this morning. Apologies for the blurry image- he was moving fast today! π«

A dog stands next to an iced over pool in a frosty glen. The foreground is in shade but the top end of the glen is in glorious sunshine.
A selfie, with the same view behind. I'm wearing a pink jacket. A grey running vest and a grey woolly hat.
Icy and beautiful Glen Rosa jog with doggo this morning! Had to hack my way through a load of black ice to get my van out the carpark though! βοΈβοΈβοΈ

Cladach at night, the scene is framed by trees and is of two old whitewashed stone cottages, with an earth track between them, lit by Christmas lights strung across the track. Doggo is trotting down the track, a red light on his collar casting a blob of red light on the ground next to him instead of a shadow.
Dark o'clock walk with doggo πππππ

Sunrise on the Northeast coast of Arran, glimpsed out to sea through two leafless trees.
Up early doors for an MRT joint training exercise with the Coastguard and RNLI. More info and pics here (apologies for the Meta link but the team aren't on Bluesky yet) www.facebook.com/share/p/17Wv...

A view from the summit of the Clauchlands Hills looking south to Lamlash Bay. On the summit is a dog, and a big stone cairn. The cone shape of Holy Isle is clearly visible in the bay.
A selfie of me and my dog Nuis. I've got a stripey hat on. Nuis has a white stripe down his nose and ginger tinges to his red brown fur.
Out ahead of the weather for a stomp over the Clauchlands hills with my lovely Nuis. π₯°

A brown and white border collie crossed with a kelpie jogging casually away from the camera on a forest road. In reality to photographer running behind and is struggling to keep up, which is why the trees are a bit blurry.
Trying to keep up with my happy doggo π.... πββοΈ

Lamlash Christmas tree on the village green. The lights are reflected in a large puddle on the green. The Lamlash Bay hotel is behind with lots of lights too.
Dog posing and sitting nicely on the beach in the light of my head torch.
After a busy start to December with ample opportunity to get #outsideeveryday I arrived home this morning feeling absolutely pooped. The weather rolled in π¬π§ and doggo and I sat and waited for a window for his afternoon walk, which came after dark! Added bonus- Christmas lights. π
#outsideeveryday. Lovely walk with Iza and Coco.
This was my 47th Bowfell this year. 3 more to go π₯±
Day 2 #outsideeveryday
A night ride. Bit dark, bit nippy and got gritted on the way home π
#outsideeveryday It was blowing a houlie. But, thankfully, a tail π¨ on the way home. And wonderful to be out in the fresh air. π΄ββοΈπͺ

Five people in red waterproofs setting up a rope on on the edge of a steep drop off. A huge craggy peak looms on the other side of the gap.
The team chat and enjoy a brew at on the hillside back at the all terrain Argo Cats. The Witches Step is visible behind on the skyline.
Busy old day in the ming today, training with fellow team members in Arran Mountain Rescue Team. We headed to the Witches Step for various ropework scenarios. Waterproofs and boots thoroughly tested on crappy ground in crappy weather. Day 1 of #OutsideEveryDay definitely ticked off!
Great challenge and I will join you! I live in Langdale and it's always a tricky time of year as the sun no longer hits my side of the valley and doesn't return until February! #outsideeveryday
Nice jog with Nuis π up Glen Rosa. Not as far as I'd intended, but I have a rule not to push myself too hard at the moment. #BluePools not very blue today!
It's hard just getting out at this time of year. Every December I set myself the challenge to get #outsideeveryday Starts tomorrow! Join me?
