Copper Underwing (Amphipyra pyramidea). NFY.
Because he's using a leg to cling to a vertical leaf, this Copper Underwing isn't as dedicated to the role of playing dead as some of the other #moths that have performed for me. I'm not buying his act at all.

Sallow Kitten (Furcula furcula). NFG.
Even though this morning's trap included three Poplar HMs and one Privet HM, the highlight was this Sallow Kitten. I've never seen one before. It's another moth that enjoys dramatics, so when I removed it from the pot, its behaviour was all too familiar.

Poplar Hawk-moth (Laothoe populi).
Even Poplar Hawk-moths will play dead, which surprised me. I haven't seen that before. I think I spent at least three minutes photographing him as he lay on his back. He finally grabbed my finger, and I flipped him over. The hashtag #DramaQueenMoth has one more moth.

Brown-tail (Euproctis chrysorrhoea). NFY.
This Brown-tail moth would win the prize if there was one for acting like a dead moth. I was totally frustrated by it. Other moths eventually stop playing the game, but not this one. I left it in my shed, so it's most likely still "dead" there. 🙄

Burnished Brass (Diachrysia chrysitis).
Additionally, the Burnished Brass is another one that has a flair for the dramatics. I tried taking some pictures of the moth, but it was completely unresponsive. After about five minutes, it sprang to life and flew around my shed for a while.
