I cleaned and repaired a pair of my father’s watches, both of which he clearly wore quite a bit, judging by the wear and his own repair attempts. I’ve been wearing both pretty much nonstop since getting them working - a connection we didn’t have while he was alive.

An email to Congressman Jared Golden: Hi Jared, it's Elizabeth. I've been reading your newsletter and I'm wondering - how do you define a Constitutional Crisis? A Palestinian permanent resident was arrested by ICE this weekend, with complete disregard for his 1st, 5th, and 14th Amendment rights. That's pretty alarming to me. Transgender women are being forcibly transitioned and placed in male prisons. That's a violation of the 8th Amendment, not to mention life threatening. The administration is refusing to fund legitimate activities created and budgeted for by Congress, *as required by the Constitution.* Particularly, they're attacking programs which provide income and services to vulnerable populations, like our veterans and elderly. (For example, just announced is a $1B cut to local foods.) How much are you willing to countenance, Jared? Maine has an aging population. We cannot afford to throw them out in the streets. Our rural service providers were struggling *before* this Administration began playing Tariff Chicken and Random Firing of the Day. We're in a slow moving coup, and I'm convinced you've chosen the wrong fable with the Boy Who Cried Wolf. Try instead Cassandra - doomed to tell the truth and be ignored. People are dying, Congressman. We're ignoring our responsibilities to the world, our citizens, our children, our future. No greater betrayal of our country exists. Stand up. Honor your Oath. Please.
