Waikiki and the new Ala Wai Canal, in 1930, with empty dry land where taro patches had stretched. From 1425, Waikiki was the main seat of power of O'ahu. (1425 was when the grove of 10,000 coconut trees was first started, sustaining until at least 1859.) And, same view now:
