A simple conclusion from #GortonDenton is that the majority of voters will choose hope over hate. Voters didn't respond well to Labour's #continuitycapitalism position, and all that effort trying to court the right has merely reduced its voter base. Maybe things would've been different with #Burnham

It might make sense for mayors to automatically be MPs so they have more influence in Westminster as they are doing a better job than central government. But at least we started the policy. This would have allowed #Burnham to run. We should go much further though.
Devolution has actually worked. #Burnham has done a great job but all metro mayors have improved productivity. This is another green shoot in the economy. You can see why #Burnham wants the top job and why #Labour and #Starmer want to keep power in Manchester.
