Better Space Syntax Walkability = Better Heart Health? Using data from 7,171 Alberta’s Tomorrow Project participants, researchers found that an environment metric based on the space syntax theory (not traditional walkability metrics) was associated with some cardio-metabolic risk factors. 1. Multiple Blood Pressure Readings and Cardiovascular Risk. Researchers looked at whether taking multiple blood pressure (BP) readings in one visit gives a more accurate prediction of major adverse cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke, death from heart disease) than one reading. 17,966 adults (ages 40-70) in CARTaGENE followed over ten years. Participants had their blood pressure measured three times during their visit, with 2-minute breaks in between. All diastolic BP readings had similar results.
