Crap weather, postponements and general lethargy saw me, once again, head to the banks of the River Dee for a (✔️) as, due to a waterlogged Alyn Park, the Cymru North game between #Mold Alex and #Denbigh Town was switched to the 3G pitch at Cae-y-Castell. The Alex won 2-1 (att: 143) #Groundhopping 🏴
The magnificent Jesse Window in the village church at Llanrhaeadr, near #Denbigh. It's thought to date from the early 16th century and may have been lifted from Basingwerk Abbey in #Flintshire at the time of its Dissolution. The most complete #medieval window in North #Wales.

The castle was not complete by 1294, when the Welsh temporarily took the castle during the Madog ap Llywelyn revolt.
The impressive main gatehouse to the #castle was constructed by building three octagonal towers in a tringle. A design which to my knowledge is unique to #Denbigh.

Built on the site of a Welsh Llys, to control lordship of #Denbigh after the Conquest of Wales by Edward I of England in 1282, the #castle & walled town was built by Henry de Lacy, Earl of Lincoln, between 1282 & his death in 1311.

In the UK, the only legal requirement for flying IMC in a glider is that you're wearing a parachute.
As an optional bolt-on, you can undergo training for cloud flying. In this video, I do upset and recovery part of the syllabus.

Today's exercise was ridge soaring in the LS4, however, midway through the flight the weather transitioned to more wave like conditions.

Second flight in the LS4. Transitioned out of the ridge lift in to wave. Probably my best flight to date, was up over an hour.

Took my first flight in the LS4 yesterday.
It's a single seater aircraft which means you can't go up with an instructor before you fly it. That made it a step forward towards my Bronze rating.

I did a bit of ridge soaring to finish the year. You can see I'm close to cloud base here hugging the ridge.
Unfortunately, the camera was mounted incorrectly so the video was unusable.
However, this still show the view out towards Rhyl and the sea just below the cloud.
