A split madrone trunk viewed in the pouring rain shows its peeling glory. The right and left of the fork are covered with rough dark bark at the periphery of the photo, with green moss bits providing some color. But the center of the fork is bark less, and is a golden yellow brown with patches of glowing orange yellow. Looking through the fork you can a background of brown autumn leaves. Everything is covered with a gloss of water creating bright highlights
