#OctoberWorldbuilders Day 25

Pyrean names, particularly from the Fimmel tribe, are often Germanic/Scandinavian sounding, but there's a lot more Mongolian/Central Asian influence on pyrean culture than Scandinavian. Nomadism and animism are the most significant aspects of the culture imo.

I'd like to see some cosplay of all the main cast but especially Umaryn since she's my flagship character.

#OctoberWorldbuilders Day 24

I would like to think Triple Strike has Phoenix Wright vibes in that it's got quirky comedy elements mixed in with earnest drama and kind of messed up plot elements 😅

The cover of Triple Strike: Threads Unbound, book 4. The illustration shows Alan and Sven walking down a white path between weathered columns coated with purple and blue scales. Alan's hand is on Sven's back and Sven is waving at Natalia, who is ahead of them on a balcony with multiple fountains. There are multiple levels of colorful city beyond this, and in the distance is a river moving into a forested region. Beyond this is and on either side is barren rocks. The sky is full of colorful kites.

This is the cover of book 4, and it's a view of Pyre's capital, Thee vis Drimenn. I wanted it to feel both very ancient and very modern.

A mood board with a background of stars titled "Triple Strike" in purple letters. There are eight images total. The top left is the largest, and it features a schooner sailing across what appears to be a sea of stars into a nebula. It may just be a reflection on the ocean as well. Next to this image are a sequence of three, small images. The top image shows an illustration of a smiling woman's face with dark skin and curly blonde hair against a background of flowers. She has a red bandanna. The next shows the hilt of a silver basket-hilt rapier on a background of wood. The third shows the bottom half of a ma'jenn's face. They have curling ram's horns, silver dreadlocks with bells intertwined in them, and dark skin. They are wearing a blue tunic decorated with silver embroidery. The next image on the middle left is a stock image of a map strewn with money, an old camera, a magnifying glass, and a passport. The image on the middle right is an illustration of Alan and Sven from Triple Strike. They are lying on a bed smiling at each other. Alan has darker skin and brown hair. He is shirtless. Sven has pale skin, lavender hair, and green eyes. On the bottom left, is another illustration from Triple Strike. It is Alan shirtless looking over his shoulder. He has his hair pulled up, and he is sweating. His dragon tattoo on his shoulder is readily visible. On the bottom right is a picture of a landscape with the Milky Way visible in the night sky.

My one and only Triple Strike moodboard. I should have a bunch of TS art given that I illustrate it, but I'm pretty self-critical, so there's probably less than one might expect 😔.

Quarters on pyrean navy ships are small, shared between 2-4 people except for the captain's and first mate's. Furniture is fixed, personal possessions must be stored, and dining hall/showers are communal.

#OctoberWorldbuilders - Cosplay
If someone wanted to cosplay the outrageously, deliriously dramatic and tempting Viola, that would be amazing. You also have the option of a Bloodhound uniform. Tatyana is an obvious choice, given her features, scars, daggers, unique uniform, wings, etc.

I would love to cosplay Mr. Schadenfreude. But that's an expensive costume.

I would love to see someone cosplay my character, Odilon, the half-human Fairy Prince, son of Belledame the Fairy Queen of discord. Odilon dresses all black and dark-blue (like Hamlet), with tousled red hair (like his father's, Henry VIII).

Japhet from Foreign Sorcerer. Absolute clothes-horse. The uniform is a waistcoat, cravat with stick pin, trousers, knee-high boots, coat, linen shirt. Black, dark reds and blues, metallic hues. His irises are black holes and he has 17 orange sapphire studs in his left ear.

Ok, so I have this dumb dream to show up to a book signing for Rooted in Stone one day dressed as Helena, complete with her stompy boots and raven-closure cloak.
It would be dumb cuz I don’t want people to picture me as Helena when they read it, but it would be fun.

All of them! Make it a group effort 😊 Gosh, that would make my heart burst with joy.
I'd love to see someone cosplay as Zaki in full assassin gear. And Serara and Karma in their ball gowns, and... everything! I love to see what cosplayers come up with.

The Oyest'Usu man—modified, as he would prefer to be described—had three pairs of short legs and a pair of pseudopods rather than the tentacles his people were hatched with. Never one for clothing, he had a distinct head, small eyes, an expressive mouth, and of course, a bright pink, semi-translucent outer membrane. “Squishy,” as Thyllis had once described him. “Like dessert,”' as Quirin had. Only just taller than Captain, the top of Beskros’s head scarcely reached my chest. The overall effect was that to Clarke, at least, Beskros was “incredibly adorable”.

A quarteryear earlier, the two had had a very unpleasant disagreement, Clarke finding herself the target of our pilot's anger rather than more appropriate targets like Thyllis or me. Although the two had since made up, Clarke had recently taken to gifting him small Human-style hats in an incredibly childish attempt to make herself feel better. So far, the man had not made the connection in any way, proudly wearing four of them in regular rotation.

“This one's called a stetson,” Clarke said, a broad smile across her face, as she plucked another tiny hat from its box.

The man placed it on his head and beamed.

“That looks great,” Clarke said, sharing her visual input with me from across the galley.

I'm working on a character and the setting he comes from. It's just a sketch at the moment but it goes something like this: /1

Excluding myself being the cosplayer, I'd love to see someone cosplay as Ryder or Rai actually! Especially RotHV Rai 🤭

Kali Vales became a late addition and POV character (making six total). A former field medic during the civil war, Kali was recruited to the UNS Bloodhound organization. Steadfast, a true believer in the state, secret homosexual & special masochist breed.

Amnos, the Messianic Animal God of Nequinum. Strongly inspired by Aslan, but not exlcusively a Christ figure. He has a bit of Mithras, Persephone (dies in winter, resurrects in spring, restoring the fertility of the land), and some other savior/dying-&-rising deities.

30. Recent character you’ve created

In book 1.5 I have a mean little cocky bitch of a man who's more a nuisance than a real villain.
Haven't named him yet.
He's tall and "ordinary handsome + charisma" not "so handsome you're going to faint if he smiles"

#OctoberWorldbuilders Day 30: The sequel to The Way By comes out next year! It's an anthology of short stories taking place in the same world. It will act as a bridge between The Way By and the third book, Wayward.

So, I've gotten to create many characters recently!

King Draco
- Unknown birthdate/place
- Unknown race

The master of the Chessmen. His(?) exact goals are unclear, but he preaches to his many many followers the gospel of The Zenith. Woe upon you should you look into his eyes.
Because then, you will be his.

"Jane Doe" is her current name. Jane is actually a resurrected amalgamation of two separate people in The Sarcophagus of Lamia Book 2, and the crew's biometric skeleton key.

She's a bit aggro.

Not counting the occasional innkeeper or traveler, the most recent is a yet unnamed shapeshifter woman who works for the antagonists. She'll follow the party and spy on them in her animal shapes, reporting back to the assassins.
I need a name for her.
