The #AstronomyWeather for my local patch, for August 2025:
Clear sky: 10 nights
Partly cloudy sky: 7 nights
Overcast sky: 14 nights
August was all about the #Perseid meteor shower. Some lucky clear nights around the peak allowed me to capture some great #Perseids.

This is a unstacked companion to the first image. One thing stacking does is remove the noise but it can also remove some of the interesting things, including meteors. It was shot during the Perseid Meteor shower in August 2023.

My #Perseids photography summary for 2025:
In nine nights of Perseid meteor shower observing this year, I took 19,317 shots and captured a grand total of 53 #Perseid meteors. A capture rate of 0.27%. That's about half the rate from 2024. 🧵

A green and orange Perseid meteor passing close to the bright Moon on 13 August 2025 at 03.16 UT. Some thin and patchy clouds are around the Moon. The bright 'star' next to the meteor is the planet Saturn. Settings: Canon 600D and 24mm lens at 8s exp, 24mm fl, f/2.8, ISO-400.
Here's a #Perseid meteor doing its best to defy the bright Moon next to it on the morning of 13 August 2025. Even in the bright moonlight a bit of colour can be seen in the meteor trail. #Astronomy #Astrophotography #Perseids #PerseidMeteorShower

The constellation of Draco seemed to attract the good meteors during the peak of the #Perseids. Here's another nice #Perseid ending its journey amongst the four stars forming the head of Draco, the dragon. #Astronomy #Astrophotography #Perseids #PerseidMeteorShower
All night timelapse from 12/13 August 2025 on the peak of the #Perseids #MeteorShower. I had 2 cameras running from dusk until dawn, a total of 3,434 x 13 second shots. Out of those I got a dozen meteors + plenty of satellites/aircraft!

I've just published a video round up of the #meteors captured on DSLR and on our 4 #MeteorCameras on the night of 12/13 Aug, the peak of the #Perseids #MeteorShower. I've included meteor camera images from 3 nights following the peak because rates were still high. Watch here: youtu.be/UWRVPdBlRFw
✨i cannot believe the amazing photos of the sky we captured the other night when we went stargazing to catch some of the perseids 💫… theyre just SO good.🤩so grateful we leveled up on how to use our iphone cameras better📸 #stargazing 🌌 #perseids #photography #nighttimephotography #MomDaughterDuo 🥰🪷
@marcolangbroek.bsky.social When capturing #perseids, I noticed two very bright flares on what is presumably usa-215 (according to heaven's above). The timing and track match. The brightest flare (similar to ISS overhead) appeared just outside the photo. Is this common for this type of satellite?
A starlit dirt road going through the desert. On the left and the right silhouettes of mountains and Joshua trees can be seen. The sky above is a dark purple to a lighter purple at the horizon except on the lower right side where city lights turn the sky white. The Milkyway cuts across the dark sky going up at a slight angle to the right. There is a meteor slashing through the sky to the right of the Milkyway and stretches about 1/8th of the way through the starlit sky.
Happy #Stunday to all that celebrate. This is from the '21 #Perseids. A dark desert road in the #Mojave National Preserve with the #MilkyWay and a lone #meteor in sky. There were meteors this is the only one I caught in the frame. More celestial #photography at ScottWGonzalez.com
