It was a rough day at sea when I took this black and white photo while sailing around El Arco, located on the coast of Cabo San Lucas, where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez. The smooth tides of Lovers Beach are on the Cortez side of the arch, and Divorce Beach’s thrashing tides are on the Pacific side. El Arco's jagged dip into the misty tides is accentuated by its open arch. Waves crash through the opening, and its uneven roundness offers a hazy view of what lies beyond: the calm stretch of shore known as Lover's Beach. El Arco's beautiful formation inspired this haiku in my travel journal: rough lands end smooth curves roam lover's beach
