Twin office buildings and the space between them. The two structures mirror each other with fully-glazed sections (with long vertical metal screens) and glossy ivory rainscreen sides. The cladding has a decorative feature with fin-like protrusions in a brass color. Two trees grow in the raised beds between the buildings. Forbury Place, Reading, Berkshire. An minimalistic monotone photograph of a flat surface with horizontal and vertical lines receding with perspective. Towards the end of this plane (and the middle of the image) are some raised geometric shapes, like elevations in a rudimentarily-rendered digital landscape. The asymmetric spire of a modern office building can be seen between a gap in the walls of a grand ruin. Reading Abbey was founded in 1121 by England's Henry I and was mostly destroyed in 1538 by Henry VIII. The inner rubble cores of the walls are almost all that remain. The Blade, also known as Abbey Mill House, is a high-rise office building from 2009. With 14 floors above ground level and a height of 86 metres, it is the tallest building in Reading, Berkshire, UK. Photo of a chess board setup for the start of a game. The shot is taken behind the white king and queen which are in focus in the foreground. A bishop on the edge of the frame faces them.

In the background, out of focus we can make out the rough shapes of the black pieces. A circular glint shimmers on each piece.

Inspired by www.photocrowd.com/photo-compet... A good excuse to take the camera along to the local games.

I'm not usually snapping still life. I enjoyed this composition more than I expected to.

A large iron support, underpinning railway tracks, has been painted a warm shade of yellow. A layer of paint in a lighter tone has been applied to cover some graffiti tags. On top of this is a more recent piece of street art in blue paint. The word "boo" in all-caps with an exclamation mark, and a simple ghost character in outline with large, long eyes and a small mouth. Finally, there is a broken letter U. Or maybe it's a smiley face. Or maybe it's a monogram for I and J. I don't know. Vastern Road, Reading, Berkshire, UK. Photo by Gearóid Burke.

Great to attend the electric bus launch at Reading Buses.

Cleaner transport makes a real difference locally, and it’s good to see progress happening.

Looking forward to supporting more projects that help cut emissions in Reading.

A dark, blocky office building on the left. A very blue sky on the right. There's a grid over the image and there's a series of white dots, slashes and loops, like some strange symbol-based language. The plate glass windows of a modern high-rise office building (One Station Hill) reflects its neighbour (Thames Tower) and a mostly-clear noon sky. Visible inside the structure are strip lights, spherical lampshades and circular LED chandeliers (seemingly de rigueur for any office or retail space these days). Station Hill, Reading, Berkshire, UK. Photo by Gearóid Burke.

An oddly impressive patchwork of paving and manhole covers. Redbrick paving in a horizontal pattern, with yellow brick and yellow tactile paving slabs cutting in at a 12˚ angle. Three rectangular 'block pavior' covers, filled with brown aggregate, are placed at a 27˚ angle. The central manhole cover features the letters N and E. My theory is that the word ZONE had been painted here, but the paint has worn away from the red bricks. King Street and High Street, Reading, Berkshire, UK. Photo by Gearóid Burke.
