My Vols finally decided to play defense, and now, with the game in hand, I'll post a shot from long ago. I used an onion netting to hold a small hummingbird feeder to get this photo.

Good morning! This is the male that’s taken over my feeder in anticipation of breeding season.
I was going to ask for name suggestions, but then I said “Herb” out loud unbidden, so clearly his name is Herb.
I hope to document Herb’s mating attempts.

A tiny hummingbird perches on the finial atop a feeder pole, which is itself in the shape of a (somewhat cartoony) hummingbird silhouette. The real bird is barely half the size of the metal one.
The hummer sits on the head of the songbird silhouette on another feeder pole. Again, it's dwarfed by it.
Found a couple of rather fuzzy images when cleaning off the card on an old camera… a little reminder of spring.

This male has staked his claim on my feeder and has driven away all other birds.
If I’m *very* lucky, the feeder cams will get some of his courtship attempts.
