The alarm pulse pries at the eyes as the mind still clings to slumber. There in the dark, the soft, down covers, thick with warmth, argue against the cold. “Why not stay here?” they say. “Imagine that dreaded, icy first step onto the floor...” The temptation is to heed that advice and tumble back into sleep, but duty calls and the day is full of promise. But with wishes that I’d succumbed to that urge, here's some more (US) morning mellow.
