This is not today's Yellow Ratsnake - but perhaps it's great or great-great grandparent. Pantherophis quadrivittatus Stocky bodied snake is wrapped around my hand and wrist. It is looking intently off screen to the right. The snake is primarily a yellowish green color, with darker stripes down the length of its body. The specimens in this area of NC are much darker and pronounced more toward green than the ones in Florida; which trend more "yellow".
