Wagoomba
Debut: WarioWare: Twisted!
Attack: Hard Hat Hustle
Type: Offensive
Speed: 8/10
Power: 3/10
Pass: 3/10
Spike: 8/10
This little guy is a Wagoomba - a creature Wario created for his Wario Bike minigame. Instead of big eyes with bushy eyebrows, they have small eyes with some sharp-looking glasses. Wagoombas not only have no fangs, but they have no motuth at all, which gives off a bit of a foreboding vibe. When asked, Wario said that was the point of their design (though we think he's just rolling with it to take the credit). Thanks to Dr. Crygor and Penny's combined genius, the Wagoombas have become a reality! They're speedy players who can also spike the ball hard with a headbonk! Hard Hat Hustle has them charge forward with their helmet, which damages opponents AND protects them from frontal attacks and projectiles.
Wakoopa Watroopa
Debut: WarioWare: Twisted!
Attack: Wreck Peck
Type: Defensive
Speed: 6/10
Power: 4/10
Pass: 10/10
Spike: 2/10
Wakoopa Watroopas (or simply Wakoopas if you don't want to be fancy) come from Wario's special Wario Bike minigame. The objective is to ride by and collect bags of cash and defeat enemies, which Wario designed after the ones Mario faces off with! These are based on the Koopas, but are a bit off in terms of design. Wario accidentally miscolored a few pixels on their mouths, and when they were brought to life, it resulted in a large yellow beak! The Wakoopas' high speed and long neck make passing balls a breeze. They can also use the Wreck Peck ability, where they hide in their shell before lunging forward and stabbing opponents with their beak! If they hit nothing though, they will get their beaks stuck in a wall.
Waspiny
Debut: WarioWare: Twisted!
Attack: Spike Scraper
Type: Speed
Speed: 9/10
Power: 6/10
Pass: 2/10
Spike: 3/10
Another enemy from Wario's Wario Bike game, the Waspiny! Like Spinies, these guys have spiked shells, but they look quite a bit more... crooked. This actually makes Waspinies safe to jump on, but those spikes are pointing straight ahead. You should never run up to them, even if you wanna give that adorable face a cuddle. Waspinies are speed-type sidekicks that can run super fast around the court, and their spikes provide a good amount of offensive and defensive capabilities. Spike Scraper is their signature attack, where they lean forward enough to dig their spikes into the ground, and rush ahead in the desired direction. This will bury opponents it runs over, leaving them incapacitated for a short time!
Wakitu
Debut: WarioWare: Twisted!
Attack: Cloud Nine
Type: Support
Speed: 3/10
Power: 4/10
Pass: 5/10
Spike: 6/10
Lakitus have been a thorn in Mario's side for years, so it only made sense for Wario to put them in his Wario Bike game too. These Wakitus are a bit more weird-looking than some of the others he made though, what with the big nose and buck teeth. They throw Waspiny Eggs to try and knock the player off their bike, and since they're so high in the air, it's hard to bop them without jumping off a ramp beforehand. Wakitus have a solid spike stat, but falter a bit in the rest of their stats. They make up for it with Cloud Nine, which allows itself or an ally to be covered in a cloud, giving all opponents' attacks and items a 50% chance to miss, opening them up for an easy counterattack! This is especially effective on combo attacks.
anyone remember the wario bike minigame in WarioWare: Twisted?
