Not new, but quite apt for both #thicktrunkTuesday and #weekKforKaput in the #alphabetchallenge. A summer snap from the grounds of NT Felbrigg, Norfolk.

An abandoned, semi-circular brick building with large arched windows, surrounded by overgrown trees and bushes under a cloudy sky. The overall tone of the picture is light brown creating a sense of loneliness and sadness.
Must have been a beauty when still up and running!

This black and white picture shows the buildings of the Flugwerft Schleißheim which in the past were part of Oberschleißheim airport, founded in 1912 for the Royal Bavarian Air Force. In the 1980s, this part had fallen in decay, but was from 1992 onwards re-used as the aviation part of the Deutsches Museum, an important Germany technology museum.

This is the coastal path. Behind the fence are dark rocks. There are two tankers in the distance on the sea. Dark clouds with glimpses of light are over the sea and the Isle if Portland.

- my lovely Murano glass necklace went kaput! It fell off my neck and smashed onto the tiled floor of a metro station as I was running to catch a bus 😭 It scattered all over the concourse and a couple of people helped me find most of the pieces - each bead is broken.

Abandoned on the Orwell
#ShotYesterday for the #WeekKforKaput - #AlphabetChallenge
The black-and-white photograph captures an abandoned, weathered wall with two barred windows at the top. The wall is adorned with bold, abstract graffiti in black, creating a stark contrast against the crumbling texture of the surface. Below the graffiti, two discarded plastic chairs, adding a sense of desolation. The ground is scattered with debris and rocks, enhancing the atmosphere of decay. The composition uses strong lines and contrasts, emphasizing the interplay between urban decay and artistic expression. The framing and use of monochrome evoke a timeless, melancholic mood. Alt-Text generated by a LLM, supervised by a human!

Photograph taken of a discarded spring flower bouquet on my compost heap. Obvious flowers include yellow, red and pink tulips and white hyacinths. Taken on mobile phone them used a grey filter to tone down the colours to reflect decay. One day, once composted, they will help other tulips flourish.

Day 2 adrift in a sea of green
Time has swallowed this room whole. What was once the grand dining hall of the Alpenhaus, opened in 1907 to feed 273 tubercular women seeking recovery in the Brandenburg pine forests, now stands open to the sky, stripped of every comfort, reclaimed by the wild. Three arched windows dominate the far wall, their elegant plasterwork frames still intact, a ghostly echo of the Historicist architecture designed by Fritz Schulz. The central arch, tall and cathedral-like, frames a tangle of bare autumn branches beyond, nature pressing back through the wound. To the right, a fallen tree leans inside like an uninvited guest, ivy draped over its shoulders. Overhead, the vaulted brick ceiling holds on by will alone. Rusted steel girders hang exposed, orange with decades of damp, their flanges curling. Below, the floor is a sea of pulverized plaster, shattered brick and scattered debris, the remnants of Soviet soldiers who once played football here after the war, until even that became too dangerous. Faint graffiti marks the lower walls, signatures of the curious who came after, while a single twisted metal chair lies half-buried in the rubble, the last seated guest at a table long gone. The Alpenhaus burned for a full week in April 1945. Eighty years later, the ruin is deliberately preserved as a monument, a deliberate wound kept open in the landscape of Brandenburg, just an hour south of Berlin.
Arched windows. Rusted steel. A fallen tree where the dining tables once stood. The Alpenhaus in Beelitz-Heilstätten has been a ruin since 1945 — and they intend to keep it that way. #

Amazing mind who thought to do that. Incredible patience and attention to detail to bring it from thought to manifestation.

Two bicycle frames, lying on the verge. With the bikes are a black wok-like pan and a large plastic tub lid. One of the bike frames is leaning slightly against a tree. It is silver and is missing some parts, most obviously the wheels and seat. The other frame is blue and is in two parts, is missing the wheels and more parts than the silver frame. The grass on the verge is long, in need of mowing. The road can be seen in the background.
