A large female Golden Eagle became familiar with me (Many 'Goldies' have over the years!) and she sat long upon her perch for me & my cameras & lenses. She's depicted her on the cross arm of a large, old telephone phone in the vibrant, saturated, late light of the day within but a hour or so of sunset. Although she was searching for prey, she would often just gaze at the great distances. I'm sure she was guarding against any competitors who might come too close to us, and her hunting grounds. The telephone pole is offset on the left & it's of a bright orange & red coloration. A solitary bright white insulator holding it's telephone wire is on the crossbar to the right in the frame. The pole is vertical, but the wires & crossbar are at angles. There's also an angled metal support beneath the crossbar attached to the pole. Enjoy!

Three photos of North American Porcupines. Text reads: "Despite popular belief, the porcupine's quills are not self-propelling - rather they comm off at a light touch as a defense mechanism.
Today weβre bringing some facts about one of our most iconic Burqueno wild citizens--- the North American Porcupine! Look high up into the bare trees in the bosque for a spiky ball, often in or near the crook of a tree or where branches meet. Theyβre hard to miss!

Dim light, a coyote stands on snow over frozen river ice. It faces left, staring at something in the distance. It appears dark brown in this light and distance.
#Mammal #Canid #WildlifeWednesday February 2023, the Nechako River was frozen over at this section. The Coyotes were using it as a highway, to go courting as this is their breeding season. It was about to snow, so quite dark but, sharp eyes spotted movement. The Coyote moved on, it was only a crow.

Our first #chiffchaff heard was singing yesterday! A few days later than last year, but always a welcome sound. A simple first birdsong to learn too.

For this #WildlifeWednesday is the vulnerable Yellow-bellied Glider (south-eastern; Petaurus australis australis) which occurs from central Qld down to western Vic. This nocturnal and vocal marsupial lives in small family groups and can glide over 100m!
